Evan Long

Graduate Student

Research Interests:

I grew up in Newberg, Oregon.  I received my bachelor's degree in Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University where I remained to complete a master's in Genetics and Biotechnology as well. In 2011-2013, I volunteered as a missionary on the French island of Reunion.

During my master's degree, I studied the effects of chromosomal structural variation on genome evolution.  I am also  interested in exploring the application of computational tools to the improvement of plant breeding.  I am specifically interested in the high global impact of Cassava
